I searched previous posts on this topic, and the response was not what is desired for a 'bridge' configuration.I think the confusion lies in the term 'bridge'.

I tend to use 'bridge' to mean 'collecting a set of interfaces' into an effective unit, as in the following on a linux system command line.Am I right in thinking that your "solved" tag is down to a revelation that you were barking up the wrong tree and that any confusion about "bridge" is at your end ?Or maybe you have.

You can turn a Netgear wireless-N 300 router into a network bridge if you disable the internal DHCP server.







You could also use smart connect if you arent picky as to how your devices connect to the network.

I ended up doing a factory reset and patching it before setting it up as a bridge again.

By the way, as most people understand it, and as Netgear uses it, AP mode means with a wired connection back to a router.

I am under to press the button of Wireless OFF to somehow set it to on. That would be even more useful for fellow victims.The 'revelation' was that rather than using the WAN port for connecting the AP to the wired network, to use one of the LAN ethernet ports, and turn off the DHCP server option in the AP.





Here are the steps I am followingLog into router, Advanced - Advanced Setup - Bridge / AP / etc setup.Click on Bridge mode, and then enter the wireless settings under the sireless settings button (network name, Security (WPA2) and wireless password)I then enter the static IP info that I have already assigned the router. I have 2 ethernet devices (PC & NAS) that I will plug into the R7000 via ethernet that I hope to wireless bridge to the rest of the network. Griller.

I have a Netgear XR500 as my main router with IP 192.168.0.1 .

The XR500 directed wired to the R7000 in AP mode will just act as an extendion of your network. I have done this for RAX200 to EAX80, RAX200 to R7000, R7000 to EAX80, and RAX200 to R7000 to EX7000 to EAX80.



I do have a solid white light on the 5Ghz LED on the R7000 router, and checked that my XR500 router is advertising on 5Ghz.

Press Apply, the Router reboots.Upon logging into the router, I can see that wirelss is set to OFF on the front home screen, and the Wireless status reports Disconnected.



All in AP mode.






I cannot get it to work for the life of me!

The R7000 has an IP of 192.168.0.7After following the documented bridge instructions, the router restarts, but the ethernet connected devices are not connected to the network.
